Greetings from the Pilot
Short track champs at Moore Park in Christchurch was hard work but eventually achieved a third place in the final . As in the past we find racing at Moore Park great fun , but we get very dirty, that is covered in wet track surface from head to foot also in every nook and creavase on the bike . But it is fun doing it .

North Island Camps

Fom the Pilot.
A big let down for us at Hawkes Bay for the N.Is. The fuel pump stoped working as we approached the tapes for the first qualifing race . Not having a spare forced our retairment from the meeting . Congradulations to Steve King / Shaun Carter the new North Island Champions , allways a force to be watched .The show at Napier was good to watch but I feel it would have been a better spectacle had the surface been better suited to our class , that is the worlds number won sport — Speedway Sidecars

From the Pilot . Grand Prix result was another 1st for us . Gisborne track is allways hard work because of the talent they have up there
and such a fast track . The machinery is working well and we
are still learning setup as the year goes on .Thank you to the
Gisborne club .

From the pilot
Greetings all and thank you to everybody who have supported us , especially the Handbag clan, a great crowd .
We have finally won the NZ title and a big thanks to the Navigator (Kervin)as I know he was in great pain over the w/e .For myself I felt it good to see the cream of Australian speedway over here and competing with our locals and not being able to win much . Differant tracks ,differant setup, differant riding style .
Our thoughts go to Mr Ing who suffered serious pelvis ,shoulder and internal injuries and I here he has been flown to Auckland hospital.
It was a long and tough weekend and a good result for us , it would have been more fun on a track more suited to our class , maybe one day .
Gisborne this w/e for the GP.

New Year Starts

Posted by les in Updates on January 1st, 2009 |  Comments Off

Greetings all , This is our last post as 2008 2NZ .

The 2009 NZ sidecar Champs are on this W/E 2nd qualifing and 3rd for the finals.

Our thanks to Glenn from Sportsimages for sponsering this site.

It should be a good nites entertainment as I have heard there are 40 sidecars entered as well as the under 21 solo champs and the NZ solo champs.

As for ourselves we have lacked track time and are chasing setup (our excuse) but we will be there .

Wishing everyone a safe and happy new year.

Rosebank

From the Pilot . Welcome onboard Dirty Dog Sunglasses making sidecar racing even cooler. Have had our last meeting of the season on Sunday (N.Is.) at Rosebank and meeting #3 for the new machine .(we’ll wipe from memory Gisbourne 12th ). Thanks to Aukland Speedway Riders Club for the event and good to see the turnout of sidecars and solo’s for the event. It looked to us that all the racing was good to watch and what a neat track where you can have a race then park the bike and turn around to watch the racing as you’re fiddling with the machinery , the only downfall is the machinery gets dirty . But sidecar racing is real good fun and being able to slide most of the way round on a resonably smooth track is bliss , regardless of the position .  Have had some good feedback from competitors and public about the racing which makes us  all the happier . We now look forward to the off season for improvements and modifacations to improve the performance. Kervin can possibly lighteen the left arm with Titanium in it instead of bone and maybe attach it back at a better angle .Oh the pain but hell, sidecar racing is fun .

Well we left Napier 3am Thursday 13th of March and arrived in Christchurch about 5pm. Had a quiet couple at the Swamp then back to Tomcats for a few more. Up in the morning and off to Invercargill geez its a long way to travel for a race meeting. Saturday morning and arrived at the track bout 11am. We had one quick practice on our new bike and were really happy with it. Finals came along and won our first 3 rides even beat 1nz in our first ride and we havn’t done that for a long time. Then came the Truuts and well they beat us fair and square. We could have hoped for a run off but we think changing from 19 inch rim to a 17 was our downfall and only got another 2nd in our last ride. Congrats to the Truut’s and hard luck to Russell & co for losing it in the run off for 2nd & 3rd. But real happy with 2nd especially since 1st real try for our new bike and what a weapon.

A few days travelling back to Christchurch then Friday at Moore Park for the short track title. We had quite a few teething problems with radiator hoses and yep we got 2nd again. Congrats to Nick & Paul they rode well even with Nicks buggered finger. Just 1 referee’s decision lost us that one [sorry Tomcat]. But the new machine is going great. So see you all at the Nth Islands in April. And also thanks for the great hospitality down south

Comments from Pilot , It was terrific fun , very enjoyable to ride on a real speedway track where you can slide all the way round and the surface has no ruts as you see in clay tracks .
